Nexus Builders

Overview

Nexus Builders is a Registered Student Organization at the University of Washington who's goal is to connect student's to valuable projects outside of school.

The goal of this project was to design a platform that students can join and use to find projects to work on or to recruit others to help carry out their own vision.

Problem Space

For students wanting to break into the tech field, experience and projects to show for it are incredibly important. However, many internships or entry level jobs require previous experience leaving students or recent graduates wondering how to achieve any experience at all.

How we solved it

NEXUS created a platform that promotes collaboration between peers and provides a place for individuals looking for experience to connect and find projects to further their career.

My Process

My process included

Completely understanding the user flow and company vision
Conducting usability testing for current designs
Iterating on current designs and coming up with new features from usability test findings
Creating mobile screen designs using desktop version
Creating graphic design posters for media advertizing

01 / User Testing and Ideation

Conducted general usability testing sessions with potential users

Took users through overall website flow

Asked questions and recorded user feedback about overall flow and suggested features

Relayed findings to UX team

Brainstormed new ideas with UX team

Sketched several ideas and presented them to the rest of the NEXUS team

Created medium or high fidelity prototypes in Figma and ran them by the software developers

02 / Mobile Screens

Created mobile screen designs in Figma using desktop version

Presented designs to rest of NEXUS team

Conducted user testing on mobile screen designs

02 / Final Product for Launch

Worked with software developers to finalize product for launch

Fine tuned product with front-end and back-end developers to increase efficiency and simplicity for launch
